First, let me share that I am ecstatic that next week, we will gather in the beautiful city of Cleveland, Ohio to celebrate our 39th AME International Conference! We will host attendees from all over the United States, Canada and 19 other countries. I cannot wait to see you all in person. Zoom calls are nice, but nothing beats those genuine, old-fashioned face-to-face connections!
While we will hear from industry leaders and take away best practices as we Reimagine Excellence, the best part of the conference is not listed on our website. The best part is that you will make connections and friends, and some will last a lifetime. Many of our AME members connected early in their careers, built incredible organizations and explored self-improvement thanks to everything they learned from each other over the years. They’ve leaned on each other during challenging times (remember 2020?) and shared business successes and personal best practices. AME is truly an organization of sharing, learning and growing.
Our 2023 keynote speaker, Bob Chapman, CEO of Barry-Wehmiller, shares his story whenever he can about truly human leadership and the skills and courage to care. He wants everyone to see that caring for people and giving them meaning, purpose and fulfillment through their work is not in disharmony with creating value. This truly happens through our connections.
This conference will enable us to hear other perspectives, allowing us to envision what “could be” versus “what is.” We will build bridges and forge those long-lasting relationships that the founders of AME pictured decades ago. You will hear from one of our founders at the conference, who believes that connected compassion and care are aligned with focus and results.
I look forward to connecting with you in Cleveland. Maybe I will see you at the Welcome Reception or Breakfast Club. Remember, we will celebrate HalloLEAN by going trick-or-treating on Tuesday, October 31, in the Exhibit Hall. Costumes are encouraged! I will wear mine! Be sure to post your conference experiences and tag AME and myself on LinkedIn, using the hashtags #ame, #AMEinternationalconference, #AMECleveland2023 and #AMEconference.
As always, please stay safe and keep looking out for one another.
