DESCRIPTION

Leveraging AI for manufacturing excellence Series

Generative AI has captured the attention of the world, and is a hot topic for manufacturers – especially in board rooms and the C-suite. There is a great deal of excitement about the technology, but many struggle to separate hype from reality. This session will review the current state of AI in manufacturing, discuss the industry challenges that make generative AI so appealing to manufacturing leaders, hear about successes (and failures) of generative AI use-cases across the manufacturing value chain, and dive into key learnings over the last 18-24 months to help further your own journey towards delivering value with generative AI.

HOST COMPANY

AWS - Since launching in 2006, Amazon Web Services has been providing world-leading cloud technologies that help any organization and any individual build solutions to transform industries, communities, and lives for the better. As part of Amazon, we strive to be Earth’s most customer-centric company. We work backwards from our customers’ problems to provide them with cloud infrastructure that meets their needs, so they can reinvent continuously and push through barriers of what people thought was possible. Whether they are entrepreneurs launching new businesses, established companies reinventing themselves, non-profits working to advance their missions, or governments and cities seeking to serve their citizens more effectively—our customers trust AWS with their livelihoods, their goals, their ideas, and their data. https://aws.amazon.com/

PRESENTER

Danny Smith is AWS Principal Strategist for Artificial Intelligence and machine learning, with global responsibility for automotive, industrial, and manufacturing industries. He serves as a strategic advisor for customers at the intersection of artificial intelligence and digital transformation, helping them improve decision making by leveraging advanced algorithms and technology to improve outcomes. Lately most of his conversations are on democratizing machine learning and especially over the last 18+ months on the potential and reality of generative AI. Immediately prior to this role Danny led the launch of AWS’s no-code machine learning service Amazon SageMaker Canvas, aimed at democratizing machine learning for line-of-business users. Canvas has been the fastest growing ML service in Amazon history to date – until generative AI! His career focus has been on helping leaders make better decisions whether in the board room or on the shop floor using data and advanced algorithms, and has led advisory at Ceridian, SAS Institute, Oracle, and other companies. He started his career in the industrial supply chain space and continues to have a fondness for it, especially freight trains. Danny has a B.S. in Industrial Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a M.S. in Decision Sciences from Georgia State University.
