Continuing in the spirit of gratitude this week, I would like to thank Mike Kijak and the entire Legrand (formerly Wiremold) family for hosting the AME best practice workshop and tour last month. It was an action-packed day of tours, learning and new experiences. And a special thank you to AME Northeast Regional Board member Tony Laraia for facilitating this event.
AME is a volunteer-led organization, and our AME Regional Board members selflessly give their time and talents to share what they know so that we all can improve. That is what I love the most about this organization – these board members plan, coordinate and develop regional learning events. Companies open their doors and share best practices.
As we all know, AME workshops and tours are incredible opportunities to share, learn and grow. There is no better way to learn! This Legrand workshop was awe-inspiring, starting with their initial interactive experience. We learned about their “hold your breath setups” and toured their overall production system.
Attendee Mohamed Saleh shared, “This workshop was like no other, from the initial experience to learning about the Legrand Way to attending the tiered huddles. From observing the problem-solving approach to assessing maturity on the journey to the strategy/Hoshin accountability board. From the leadership and people development process to the production system! We witnessed a Kaizen culture where cells go through more than ten Kaizens over periods of time, producing remarkable results with Kaizen storyboards of pride on how far they have come. What a happy and joyful culture! I feel very blessed and fortunate to have had the opportunity to see a company that has made Lean behaviors and tools… just ‘their’ way!”
