More than 1,700 representatives of manufacturing and education attended the South Carolina Manufacturing Conference and Expo. The two-day event included 146 exhibitors and a presentation of the South Carolina Manufacturing Excellence Awards.
BorgWarner TorqTransfer Systems was named the 2015 Silver Crescent Award winner during the S.C. Manufacturing Excellence Awards, held at the TD Convention Center in Greenville, South Carolina.
The awards luncheon, which featured a keynote address by Gov. Nikki Haley, was part of the inaugural South Carolina Manufacturing Conference and Expo. The awards were judged by a panel of experts from the Association for Manufacturing Excellence and based on demonstrated performance in citizenship, employee engagement, customer satisfaction, environmental stewardship, innovation, financial performance and a longevity plan. BorgWarner produces transfer cases for pickup trucks, SUVs and passenger cars at the company’s location in Seneca.
2015 Manufacturing Excellence Award winners
- Cox Industries: Cox is an Orangeburg-based, family-owned and -operated manufacturer and distributor of treated outdoor wood products for the residential, commercial, industrial and utility markets.
- Honda of South Carolina Manufacturing Inc.: Honda’s location in Timmonsville is one of the company’s 14 major factories in North America.
- Mack Molding Company, Southern Division: The Inman-based company provides plastic injection molding and contract manufacturing services to a variety of industries.
The Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME) honored Governor Nikki Haley and the Silver Crescent Manufacturing Excellence Award for …. Making "Made in America" a reality in South Carolina. Glenn Marshall from AME recognized the governor’s leadership and the state’s initiative for revitalizing the manufacturing sector by creating more advanced manufacturing jobs and hiring returning veterans to fill the need for skilled workers.
AME’s plan is to encourage Silver Crescent winners to continue on a journey of continuous improvement and use the award’s process as a stepping stone to take them to the next level of enterprise excellence by applying for AME Manufacturing Excellence Award. AME offers training for qualified individuals to become national examiners at the International Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio, Oct. 19-23.
