OVERVIEW

In 2023, a group of seven not-for-profit organizations* from manufacturing, healthcare and academiacreated a groundbreaking collaboration, Future of People at Work (FPWork.org) to investigate the opportunities for a more eclectic and resilient approach to business process improvement. BruceHamilton, Senior Advisor from GBMP, one of the FPW partner organizations, will share initial efforts from the last two years to reach out to senior leaders and educators to harmonize diverse improvement service communities and place process improvement in proper context of generational and technological sea changes.*Toyota Production System Support Center, Lean Enterprise Institute, GBMP Consulting Group, ShingoInstitute, Central Coast Lean, OSU COE, Catalysis

GBMP -  Founded in 1994, GBMP Consulting Group is a non-profit hands-on lean and Six Sigma assistanceorganization with a mission to keep good jobs in the U.S. GBMP consultants are all former lean practitioners with deep knowledge of TPS lLean) and Six Sigma methodologies, having practiced as operating managers in successful lean organizations, including a former Shingo prize recipient.Consultant experience includes production, quality, engineering, supply chain, sales & distribution and IT. GBMP is a registered affiliate of the Shingo Institute with six certified Shingo instructors and is the Institute’s leading provider of enterprise excellence training. PRESENTER

Bruce Hamilton is a Senior Advisor at GBMP Consulting Group, a not-for-profit consulting organization supporting continuous improvement in manufacturing, healthcare and service.  He is director emeritus for the Shingo Institute, and is a senior examiner for the Shingo prize and a Shingo institute workshop facilitator. Bruce is a past recipient of the Shingo prize in both the business and academic categories and 2003 inductee to the Shingo academy. In 2015 he was inducted into the AME Manufacturing hall of fame.

Bruce is the creator of  the “Toast Kaizen,”  video as well as numerous other award-winning lean training videos and is co-author of e2 continuous improvement system, a comprehensive learn-by-doing guide for Lean transformation.  He publishes a Blog, oldleandude.org, about understanding the Toyota Production System and gaining its full benefits.

Before joining GBMP, Bruce held management positions in marketing, IT, pperations management, and general management, and, in 1990 led his organization to a Shingo prize. As an early adopter of lean, his factory was visited by Shigeo Shingo, Shigehiro Nakamura and Ryuji Fukuda. From 1995-1998, he was coached by Hajime Ohba and TSSC.
