From the CEO: Reflecting on your hard work and achievements, happy Labor Day!

AME | August 29, 2024

Harry S. Truman shared, “It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.” As many of you know, I did a Naval embark on the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier in 2010, an experience of a lifetime, and continue to follow that ship every day. I am so proud of the opportunity to honor and cherish the men and women who work so hard every day.

I want to take a moment this Labor Day week to extend my deepest gratitude and appreciation to these hard-working individuals on that ship and to every one of you. Labor Day is more than just a long weekend or the unofficial end of summer in the United States; it is a time to honor and celebrate the contributions of hard-working individuals like yourselves.

Labor Day is a federal holiday celebrated in the U.S. on the first Monday of September to honor and recognize American labor. Canada’s Labour Day is also celebrated on the first Monday of September. More than 150 other countries celebrate International Workers’ Day on May 1, the European holiday of May Day.

To our U.S., Canadian and international members, your giving spirit and commitment to excellence are the backbone of AME. Every subject shared, every challenge overcome and every goal achieved reflects your dedication, skill and perseverance. This day is a tribute to your commitment and the essential role you play in our ongoing success. We would not be celebrating our 40th anniversary without you.

I also want to let you know about two educational and engaging AME opportunities in September. The first is an opportunity to join AME in Cleveland on September 11 from 8 to 11:45 a.m. to hear from Rami Goldratt, son of Dr. Eliyahu Goldratt, author of “The Goal.” Goldratt will share “Driven by Excellence: TOC Flow Solutions—Theory of Constraints Flow Solutions: Your Path to Operational Excellence.” Please send your RSVP to Sara O’Hara at sohara@ame.org.

On September 13, Rami Goldratt will be hosting a FREE session at 27A Midstate Drive in Auburn, Massachusetts from 8 a.m. to noon. Please send your RSVP to Charles DaRosa at charlesd@massmep.org. See the details for both sessions here. I hope to see you at both sessions.

Finally, I am honored to share that I had the opportunity to be featured on the Supply Chain Now podcast, where I spoke with Scott Luton and Allison Giddens about the global tech outage, remote work shifts and the AME Atlanta 2024 Conference. You can listen to “The Buzz” episode here.

This weekend, let’s pause and reflect on the achievements we’ve made together and envision the future with renewed energy and enthusiasm and our quest for innovation. Thank you for all that you do. Enjoy this well-deserved break, and I look forward to continuing our journey together with the same passion and drive that has brought us this far.

Have a great Labor Day weekend.

As always, please stay safe and keep looking out for one another.
