Highlights

The Winship Cancer Institute's Head and Neck Program team seized the opportunity to design and implement the future of head and neck cancer care when it was time to develop a new space for its clinic. The newly opened Head and Neck Clinic leveraged integrated facility design to optimize patient flow, team workflows and the built environment. During this tour, learn how they did it.

Description

A cross-functional team consisting of doctors, advanced practice providers, nurses, administrators and essential services team members used integrated facility design (3P), value stream improvement, and implemented a daily management system to transform cancer care for their patients and the caregiving experience for their team. Tour leaders Mark El-Deiry, MD, FACS, director of the Head and NeckProgram, and Martha Ryan, MS, NP-C, will guide you through the team’s transformation steps and the new clinic space, describing the mindset, methods and tools the team adopted to achieve success. Learn about this team’s experience in team-driven co-design of process and space, specifically its application of visual management, 5S, standard work and team-based daily huddles.
