Overview
Training Within Industry (TWI) is a standardized program of routines to be used by management that, when practiced, are countermeasures to everyday problems that hinder the flow of production or the delivery of service. The desired ultimate outcome of TWI is that people (at all levels) know of and are following standards and improving them where they need to.
One of the everyday problems experienced across all industry and service suppliers is '"don't know, can't do." It is essential that the skills are present in your organization to address this problem (reactive, countermeasure) and mitigate the risk (proactive). The skill required is the ability to instruct someone on how their work is to be done. This can be developed by deliberate practice of TWI Job Instruction. Such practice embeds principles of human interaction when the outcome required is the transfer of knowledge and skill from trainer to learner.
