What is your leadership purpose? What is the secret to long-term success as an organization or individual? How can you achieve results and develop people as at the same time?
Too often, organizations and their leaders are focused on delivering business outcomes at the expense of developing their people’s problem-solving capabilities, or applying the tools of lean and continuous improvement without understanding their broader purpose.
The secret to successful companies is an attitude towards learning, scientific thinking, and people development – they develop a Chain of Learning® throughout the organization. This starts with leaders understanding their purpose and their role in Leading to Learn® in delivering business outcomes by setting clarity of direction, providing support to their people, and developing themselves at the same time. And it requires change practitioner to move from the doer of improvement to become a Katalyst™ for transformation.
In this interactive workshop, you will discover the secret to developing an organizational culture of improvement, understand the threefold purpose of a leader to create a thriving learning organization built on a foundation of scientific thinking, and discuss real life examples highlighted in the Shingo award-winning book “Learning to Lead, Leading to Learn” and from Katie Anderson’s work with global organizations.
You will practice essential skills to strengthen scientific problem-solving capabilities in your and your people -- such as asking questions, listening, and providing coaching feedback -- to create a Chain of Learning of problem-solvers across your organization.
You will walk away with increased confidence and capability as a leader or change practitioner, and simple tools and practices that you can apply immediately to bolster your leadership and coaching capabilities to solve problems, achieve goals, and develop your people.
1. Understand the leader’s role in creating a Leading to Learn® culture of excellence and the change practioner’s as a Katalyst ™ for transformation
2. Define your personal purpose
3. Discuss the leadership behaviors that create a culture of psychological safety, people-engagement, and aligned problem-solving
4. Practice coaching skills such as asking effective questions, listening, and providing feedback to support problem-solving
