The plant tour will start in the Toyota Visitor Center with an introduction and overview of some current TPS programs. Toyota team members will talk about; Progressive Unload, New Employee Training, Green Activities and Floor Management Development System (FMDS). This introduction will help you identify key points to watch for on the tram tour as well as give insight into the line management processes of TMMK team members. After the tram tour the Toyota team will hold a 30-minute Q&A session with the group to expand on the topics and answer any other questions.
Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky (TMMK) is located in Georgetown, Kentucky. Production began in 1988, building the 1989 model 4-cylinder Camry. In the beginning, the engines were shipped from Japan. On-site engine plant was added in 1990. The factory has 7.5 million sq. ft. and employs approximately 7,500 team members, and is Toyota's largest production facility outside of Japan. This factory produces 4-cylinder and V6 engines and powertrain parts with an annual capacity of 500,000 vehicles.
