Honeywell has been on a continuous improvement journey for 30 years, evolving it’s approach through lessons learned and operational insights. This journey began with the Honeywell Operating System (HOS), which laid the foundation for standardized processes across its manufacturing sites. However, the pandemic highlighted the limitations of relying on physical audits and in-person coaching, causing the program to lose momentum.
Today, after years of development, testing and refinement, Honeywell has launched the Honeywell Manufacturing eXcellence (HMX) program. HMX revitalizes its operating system with a renewed emphasis on Lean Six Sigma principles to drive improvements in safety, quality, delivery, inventory and cost. It is supported by a digitally enabled and data-driven ecosystem that supports strategic and tactical problem-solving, virtual gap identification, coaching and multilevel engagement, allowing the company to scale consistent standards across its global operations.
Key learning objectives
- Key lessons from three decades of lean deployment, culminating in the creation and implementation of a digitally enabled operating system that drives scalable, data-informed performance improvement
- How the digital operating system enables standardized data collection and problem-solving to close systemic gaps, while also providing visibility into strategic initiatives and the benefits they deliver across a global organization
- The benefits of digitally monitoring and measuring progress (without an army of auditors) to identify where emphasize team focus and support gap closure
