Manufacturing has become the benchmark for industry 4.0, where digital transformation has become a priority with enabling technology spanning data, automation, robotics and artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML). Images, video and audio will continue to surpass structured data with the growth and use of cameras, drones, sensors, smartphones and robotics on the plant floor through the supply chain to the war on talent. Industrial customers are seeing increased productivity up to 50 percent, increased defect detection rates by up to 90 percent as compared to human inspection, increased asset productivity up to 20 percent possible, and maintenance costs reduced by 10 percent. These benefits are creating a global AI market value, which is expected to reach $267 billion by 2027. AI is expected to contribute $15.7 trillion to the global economy by 2030. The rise of AI will eliminate 85 million jobs and create 97 million new ones by 2025. These statistics are presenting opportunities for manufacturing companies to lower costs, launch new products and remove risk. In this keynote presentation, Matthew Zeiler will discuss key use cases, how the process works, how the technology works and a demonstration of the platform based on an open, hybrid approach providing speed to market and reuse of best practices.
About Matthew Zeiler
Dr. Matthew Zeiler, founder, and CEO of Clarifai, is a machine learning Ph.D. and thought leader pioneering the field of applied artificial intelligence (AI). Matt’s groundbreaking research in computer vision alongside renowned machine learning experts Geoff Hinton, Rob Fergus, Yann LeCun and Jeff Dean has propelled the image recognition industry from theory to real-world application. This experience cultivated his passion for convolutional and deconvolutional neural networks and visual recognition. Matt's unprecedented knowledge and know-how in deep learning landed him winning the top five places in image classification at the ImageNet 2013 competition. Since starting Clarifai in 2013, Matt has evolved his award-winning research into developer-friendly products that allow enterprises to integrate AI quickly and seamlessly into their workflows and customer experiences. According to Forbes, Clarifai is the leading independent AI company and “widely seen as one of the most promising [startups] in the crowded, buzzy field of machine learning.” Matt received his undergraduate degree at University of Toronto and a Ph.D. in machine learning and image recognition from New York University.
