This hands-on workshop will explore the standard work of the Production Preparation Process (3P).
Overview
3P is a method that focuses on eliminating waste through product and process design. In this workshop, we’ll explore 3P standard work starting with fishbone, yamazumi, process at a glance, and small- and full-scale simulations. You’ll learn from the Toyota, GE, and Ingersoll Rand house of lean models, which show the eight wastes of lean and build the house of lean simultaneously. Then using rudimentary materials like cardboard and foam, you’ll learn with your own parts and processes in scale and take part in manufacturing and service simulations with a large-scale compressor model.

Presenters: Jeffrey Cooper and Josh Link
Jeffrey Cooper is the global 3P coach at Ingersoll Rand. He has 40 years of experience in manufacturing/engineering lean and is a pioneer in lean production process preparation. Cooper previously worked for 20 years in the pet food business, where he worked with Dr. Edward Deming. He then worked for General Electric for 13 years, where he was trained and certified by shingijutsu senseis.
Josh Link is a 3P facilitator/moonshiner at Ingersoll Rand working in new product development. He started as a laborer at one of the Ingersoll Rand plants and then moved into its OpEx team as a change agent. He then progressed to team leader trainer for the entire plant, specializing in moonshine.
