Based on the Shingo Publication Award-winning book, "The Essence of Excellence" (2019), this workshop describes how you can create a culture of continuous improvement. The session is designed for those at, or nearing, an advanced level of lean implementation.
Hear about the findings of a global 5-year research program, including how advanced lean practitioners see their journey to be primarily about culture change based on changing behaviors at all levels of the organization. This provides a firm foundation to then implement what the authors call the BE SCILLED (pronounced 'be skilled') framework of four core operating systems, namely: Behavioural and strategy deployment (the PLAN); continuous improvement (the DO); leader standard work (the CHECK); learning and development (the ACT). Discover what these are and how they work with a wealth of practical examples from leading sites including many that have been recognized with Shingo prizes. Attendees will all undertake hands-on workshop learning.
S A Partners was established in 1994 by Professor Peter Hines whilst he was still active in the Lean Enterprise Research Centre (LERC) at Cardiff University. His role as director of LERC enabled him to network with many highly influential figures in the burgeoning lean community of the time, and to participate in a number of highly innovative and leading-edge research programmes. The foundation of S A Partners allowed Hines to build on this and play an active and practical role in working directly with businesses and their sustainable lean journeys.
Professor Peter Hines is the co-founder of the Lean Enterprise Research Centre at Cardiff Business School. He has undertaken extensive research into lean and authored or co-authored 12 books, including the Shingo Prize-winning books, “Staying Lean” and “Creating a Lean & Green Business System.” His most recent book, “The Essence of Excellence,” (January 2019) was recognized with a Shingo Publication Award. Hines is the founder of S A Partners. He also continues his academic links and is a visiting professor at Waterford Institute of Technology, is a master trainer with The Shingo Institute at Utah State University and has visiting roles in Universities across Europe and North America.
