Company

Aera Energy LLC is one of California’s largest oil and gas producers, accounting for nearly 25 percent of the state’s production. Formed in June 1997 and jointly owned by affiliates of Shell and ExxonMobil, it operates as a stand-alone company through its own board of managers. Aera Energy is an industry leader that specializes in tapping heavy oil and other unconventional light reservoirs. Headquartered in Bakersfield, most of its production is centered in the San Joaquin Valley. Aera produces about 131,000 barrels of oil and 36 million cubic feet of natural gas each day, and has proved oil and gas reserves equivalent to approximately 712 million barrels of oil. Speaker: John Chacon

John Chacon is currently a lean specialist at Aera Energy LLC. He has been a lean practitioner for the last 10 years with Aera Energy, TIC (The Industrial Company) and in the United States Marine Corps. He has lead improvement efforts in operations, engineering, new construction, maintenance, development, and supply chain. Chacon has been a part of creating organizational roadmaps for lean including training, and lean deployment.
