Company

The Port of Virginia is America's most modern gateway, one of the most advanced and strategically significant seaports in the United States, serving as a critical gateway for global commerce. The port operates a world-class, deep-water harbor that enables it to accommodate some of the largest cargo ships in the world. With its natural depth of 50 feet, the port is well-positioned to manage increasing trade volumes and larger vessels navigating the expanded Panama and Suez Canals.

The Port of Virginia is managed by the Virginia Port Authority (VPA) and operates through a network of six highly efficient marine terminals:

  1. Norfolk International Terminals (NIT): The largest terminal, featuring advanced automated stacking cranes and deep-water berths.
  2. Virginia International Gateway (VIG): A semi-automated terminal with state-of-the-art cargo-handling capabilities.
  3. Portsmouth Marine Terminal (PMT): Primarily handling breakbulk and roll-on/roll-off cargo.
  4. Newport News Marine Terminal (NNMT): Serving as a hub for breakbulk and specialty cargo.
  5. Richmond Marine Terminal (RMT): An inland terminal that supports barge services along the James River.
  6. Virginia Inland Port (VIP): A critical intermodal facility that connects rail services to inland markets.

The Port of Virginia is a major economic driver, supporting over 400,000 jobs and generating $100 billion in annual economic impact for the state. It serves as a key trade hub for industries such as automotive, agriculture, retail and manufacturing, handling millions of containers annually. https://www.portofvirginia.com/
