Vapor Bus International began its lean journey in 1996 when it became a part of Westinghouse Air Brake Technologies (Wabtec). It has been the recipient of multiple awards and recognition including being awarded Chicago’s 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For from 2005 to 2017. Attendees will see policy deployment that is strongly linked to the gemba, utilizing bowling charts that cascade goal priorities down to the shop floor through multiple levels (five levels deep) with results rolling up. Vapor focuses on KPI’s through daily communication and escalation using gemba and kanban boards, with lean daily management tiered meetings that take place from the cell level all the way to the site leadership in its standing war room. Contributing to Vapor's success is a strong team member rewards incentive program tied to achieving team and site goals.
