Overview

The tour will demonstrate the creation of a lean culture (kaizen board, meeting board, safety board, family tree, and other visual aids). It will also show Autonomous Maintenance (TPM) in each department. It will show the Press 10 Area where changes made to newest press are shared with manufacturer, Barry Wehmiller, and are now standard design features. Finally, at the Plate Room, a kanban ordering system will be demonstrated for Plate reorders.

Packaging Specialties, Inc. is a commercial printing company, started in 1975, by Hayes Biggs. They have three printing facilities and one machine facility with a total of 18 printing presses (5 presses in Georgia Facility). They serve 15+ food and non-food industries and are certified by BRC (British Retail Consortium) Global Standards and ASI Food Safety Certified. It began its lean journey in 2005

Packaging Specialties of Georgia is located in Gainesville, Georgia. This printing plant services customers throughout the entire U.S., Canada and the Caribbean. They operate presses with printing capabilities for processed images on 10 color presses with max web width of 50” and 48” repeats.
