In today’s highly competitive environment, driven by constantly changing technology, with limited resources, effective leadership throughout the organization is a differentiator between organizations that survive and those that flourish. This training provides the foundation for a culture which is “conflict” free, but abounds in the expression of different perspectives, is fearless in challenging ideas/assumptions and promotes collaboration and learning across the organization.
In this course participants will begin a journey of discovery into leadership behaviors and skills needed for success. The course will provide experiences, questions, discussions and lecture founded on leading research to drive introspection and personal development. It was designed to develop critical thinking in leadership. In addition, participants will take away practical tips and techniques that they can apply immediately to be a more inspiring and effective leader in their organization and their lives.
Based on the people-centric leadership framework, shown below, this interactive course explores:
- The value and benefits of building a people-centric culture
- The underlying thinking which is critical to drive people-centric behavior
- Key leadership behaviors necessary to build a people-centric culture, including:
o Confident humility
o Building relationships
o Reflective listening and effective communication
o Celebration and recognition
- Management systems that support a people centric culture
o Goal setting feedback and alignment
- Supporting the growth and development of people
o Effective coaching
o Developing critical thinking and problem solving skills
o How to provide actionable, informative feedback and addressing conflict/uncomfortable situations
- The link between building a people-centric culture and lean/continuous improvement tools

Lisa Weis is a people-centric, lean/continuous improvement expert, with over 24 years of demonstrated success in helping hundreds of public and private organizations achieve their vision and meet their strategic goals by engaging people, implementing enterprise excellence and inspiring innovation. Weis was part of the core team that developed the U.S. national lean initiative to help small-to-medium-sized manufacturers become more globally competitive as part of the NIST Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP). She has a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering. She is the lead for curriculum development for the AME People-Centric Leadership initiative and a member of the AME Mid-Atlantic Region board.
