The focus of manufacturing today is continuous improvement of safety, quality, productivity, delivery, morale, cost, and inventory. The session will show different ways of addressing these focal points by using lean tools and creative employee thinking. Several case studies will be demonstrated with incredible results. Mark Preston President/CEO of Lean Applications www.leanappl.com, and author of “Southern Sensei”, has been driving change for over 30 years using continuous improvement and lean. During his years with TDK Electronics, he studied Kaizen manufacturing techniques in Japan in Executive Sensei training. He later led the TDK Georgia Plant lean initiatives, which drove significant productivity gains. After TDK, Mark served in progressive executive roles at Respironics Inc. (Phillips Healthcare). In 2006, Mark became the Director of Acuity Business System at Acuity Brands Lighting, leading the deployment of lean in the Acuity supply chain for 16 plants, 5 distribution centers and 14 supplier development programs. He continued his personal training with Shinjujitsu in Japan and was promoted to Vice President of Supplier Development and Operations Excellence. Mark is the creator of the AME Lean Sensei assessment, standard work mapping, rattlesnake hunts (5S on steroids) and quality stream mapping systems. Mark serves as the acting Director of the AME Champions Club.
